We do also offer a limited number of attractive short-term scholarships of two different kinds:
Application fellowships aim at providing financial support of up to three month in one (or more) research groups of our CRC 1277,
to get to know each other’s research skills and interests and to work out a plan for a full PhD project. This aims especially at attracting interesting young talents with promising high performing academic backgrounds that require a personal getting to know each other before a final decision on a long-term PhD project can be made. Reasons for difficult judgement may be, among others, unspecific descriptions of curricula taken at the candidate’s home university abroad or qualifications towards engineering with hard-to-judge depth of physics background.
Qualification fellowships aim at providing short term financial support (3 month) for attracting interesting candidates who almost fulfill all requirements to join IRTG but might miss a minor skill or lecture that can be achieved in short period of time.Usually we do identify candidates for those scholarships by carefully reading their full application to IRTG and then suggesting these intermediate steps. However, please feel free to ask for these opportunities directly, too.
