Spin-orbit-induced dynamics in atomic-scale systems |
AbstractBased on lightwave-driven scanning tunnelling microscopy, atomic-scale femtosecond slow-motion pictures of spin-orbit induced electron dynamics are targeted in individual molecules and native defects in transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers. These experiments may also enable the first spatiotemporal resolution of moiré excitons. The corresponding theoretical description will directly proceed in the time domain with the help of generalized master equation approaches. The theory will be extended by including inelastic effects in off-resonant transport and by interfacing with DFT calculations, modelling the complex electronic systems experimentally investigated. |
